Established in 1991 by Norfolk natives Tracey and David Holmes, Magnolia Steak & Seafood Co. serves up some of the finest steaks and freshest seafood in all of Hampton Roads. Many satisfied patrons have made remarks that their food is the same quality as Ruth's Chris and Shula's at half the price. They offer an environment for all ages to enjoy quality food and great company and their critically acclaimed menu (see Southern Living Magazine and Bon Appétit) will surely satisfy all red meat and seafood lovers. Common favorites are the Cowboy Double-D Steak and the Charleston Shrimp. At Magnolia, the food is always prepared to impress. The dining room is very large by Ghent standards and the street-side patio makes for nice open-air dining and people watching in the summertime.
After dinner ends, the nightlife picks up. The full bar serves a wide selection of wine, beer and spirits in addition to the new raw bar addition that offers colossal shrimp cocktails and local fat and salty raw oysters. The adjoining pool and game room fills up later on weekend nights and stays open until 2:00 AM so there’s always a place to party. Many on the staff have been at the restaurant since its opening and take a lot of pride in their great experience with satisfying customers. For a locally owned steakhouse, this bar and restaurant is very tough to beat.
Magnolia Steak & Seafood Co. was a new participating location on the 2008 Ghent Winter Bar Tour and will again be a participating location on the 2008 Ghent Summer Bar Tour. All proceeds from these events directly benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Eastern Virginia (local Hampton Roads chapter).
