2009 Ghent Summer Bar Tour

SUMMER SUCCESS! The Ghent Summer Bar Tour sizzled in the heat on Saturday, July 25th and raised nearly $12,000 for the Hope House Foundation! 
We had twelve bars, a record number of sponsors, 75 volunteers, and 550 participants show their support at our event for this fantastic local charity. Our annual summertime pub crawl journeyed yet again down Colley Avenue, 21st Street, and the surrounding locale in the historic midtown Norfolk neighborhood of Ghent. And when it was all done, we threw another awesome tent party at The Boot! Congratulations to all of our prize winners, especially our big 50/50 cash raffle winner who won $175 - nice! For those a bit less familiar with the Hampton Roads area of Virginia, Ghent is a historic neighborhood located on the west side of midtown Norfolk,
just north of downtown and just south of Old Dominion University. Its name comes from the signing of the Treaty of Ghent in Belgium, which ended the War of 1812. The first suburb of Norfolk, Ghent was created around the turn of the 20th century and most of its buildings date back to the era between 1890 and 1920.
